Washington Office (W.O.), a DC-based strategy firm specializing in emerging technology and national security, announced today that Republican national security expert Nic Adams has joined its leadership team as Senior Vice President and Partner. The firm also announced a major expansion with a bipartisan roster of additional new advisors, associates, and promotions on its government relations team.
Senior Vice President & Partner
Nic Adams joins W.O. as Senior Vice President & Partner helping to lead the firm’s government engagement and strategy on behalf of clients.
“Nic has been the brains behind some of the biggest legislative action in recent years on emerging tech and reindustrialization,” said W.O. co-founder Josh Baer. “From supercharging U.S. efforts in semiconductors to overhauling the intelligence community, Nic has ensured America wins the national and economic security competition with China and foreign adversaries. Now he will help Washington Office companies stay in the lead, too.”
Nic Adams most recently served as Professional Staff Member on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and Senior Advisor to Senator John Cornyn (R-TX). Previously Nic worked as National Security Advisor for Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Military Legislative Assistant to Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH). His portfolios included defense, intelligence, foreign affairs, energy, science, space, and technology. In recent years, Nic has been the driving force behind legislation to maintain America’s edge over our adversaries. He was among the primary drafters of the CHIPS for America Act, drafted legislation to prevent China’s recruitment of former American intelligence officers, and spearheaded the Sensible Classification Act of 2023 to reestablish trust between the American people and their elected officials.
Prior to his time on the Hill, Nic was a commissioned officer in the United States Army, deploying several times to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and to Jordan and Iraq in the Global War on Terror. After ten years on active duty, Nic transitioned to the Army Reserve. He has a B.S. in Political Science from Boise State University, and a Master of International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
“Nic’s career has been defined by fighting on the frontlines — whether on the battlefield in the Global War on Terror or in the policy trenches backing U.S. spies against America’s enemies,” added W.O. co-founder Evan Burfield. “He brings sharp wit, wisdom, and unbeatable work ethic to the cause of making America safe again.”
