SEOptimize, a digital marketing agency headquartered in Denver, Colorado, has announced the addition of generative engine optimization services to its existing suite of SEO offerings. The expansion is designed to help small and mid-sized businesses maintain visibility as artificial intelligence platforms including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity become an increasingly common starting point for local consumer searches.
The move responds to a documented shift in search behavior. ChatGPT now processes approximately 2.5 billion prompts daily, according to data confirmed by OpenAI, and users are increasingly turning to AI platforms for local recommendations in categories such as home services, healthcare, and legal. Research from Seer Interactive published in September 2025 found that organic click-through rates fall 61 percent on queries where AI Overviews appear. Rather than presenting a full page of results for users to browse, AI-powered search tools generate direct answers that name a limited number of local businesses — meaning companies not cited in those answers may receive no exposure at all.
Generative engine optimization, commonly referred to as GEO, is the practice of structuring a business's online presence so that AI platforms are more likely to cite it within their generated responses. A 2024 study presented at the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining conference tested content strategies across 10,000 queries and found that businesses implementing GEO-oriented formatting — including clear citations, verifiable statistics, and structured content — improved their AI visibility by up to 40 percent.
Nathan Smith, Founder and CEO of SEOptimize, noted that the expansion builds directly on the agency's core approach. "For local businesses, strong SEO has always been about being findable at the right moment," Smith said. "AI search raises the stakes because instead of a full results page, users often see a single generated answer with three to five businesses named in it. The businesses that earn those citations are almost always the ones with clean technical SEO, consistent business data, and authoritative content."
The new service focuses on three areas: restructuring existing service pages with question-and-answer formatted content that AI systems can extract and cite; reinforcing local trust signals including review volume, citation consistency, and schema markup; and conducting monthly AI visibility audits in which client businesses are tested against the queries their target customers are most likely to submit to AI platforms. The approach is designed to extend the value of existing SEO investments rather than replace them, as traditional search continues to drive the majority of referral traffic for local service businesses.
Smith added that the agency's own client data supported the approach. "Across more than 300 projects, businesses that already had strong organic rankings earned AI citations three to four times faster after we layered in GEO-specific refinements," he said. "The foundation was already there. This service gives clients a clear path to making that foundation work across both channels."
SEOptimize maintains a client roster of no more than 20 businesses at a time. Businesses seeking more information about the new service can visit SEOptimize online or review the agency's overview of generative engine optimization through the company's resource library.
