Denver Dive, an independent digital publication covering the culture, food, and lifestyle of Denver, Colorado, has named Evan Dale as Photography Desk Editor for the publication. Dale, who was born and raised in the Denver area, brings nearly a decade of experience as a writer and photographer covering emerging artists and stories across the music, art, fashion, and culinary worlds, along with their cross-cultural intersections.
Dale graduated from the University of Colorado in 2016 before spending several years traveling and working across France and East and Southeast Asia. Upon returning to Denver, he built a career that includes work as an architectural designer by day and a bartender by night, while continuing to develop his photography and written journalism through bylines with local publications and his own independent online magazine. That independent publication, which Dale continues to produce alongside his work at Denver Dive, focuses on similar themes of art, food, and cultural identity within the Denver community, and has served as a proving ground for the visual approach he now brings to his new role.
At Denver Dive, Dale contributes both photography and written coverage primarily within the Pour and Plate desk, with reporting since the publication's launch covering restaurant openings, specialty food markets, and historic dining establishments across Denver and Boulder. His work has included features on imported food markets, mobile coffee vendors, and longstanding hospitality institutions within the region, including reporting on a century-old hotel that remains an active part of Boulder's hospitality landscape.
Dale has also reported on the personal histories behind some of the region's most established restaurants, including conversations with chefs about renovating and updating cornerstone establishments while preserving what made them significant in the first place. His combined experience in architectural design informs a particular attentiveness in his writing to how physical space and design contribute to a restaurant or market's identity.
Dale's appointment as Photography Desk Editor reflects Denver Dive's commitment to visual storytelling as a core component of its editorial identity. His combined background in writing and photography allows the publication to pair narrative reporting with original photographic coverage across its desks, providing readers with a more immersive sense of the people and places being covered. Denver Dive organizes its editorial coverage across seven distinct desks, including Soundboard for music, Scene and Heard for cultural events, Style for fashion, Outdoors for recreation, and Mind and Body for wellness, alongside the Pour and Plate desk that Dale contributes to.
Denver Dive launched on April 30, 2026, as an independent publication built around covering the music, art, food, style, and culture of Denver outside of the algorithm-driven coverage that has come to dominate much of local media. The publication's founding team includes seven journalists and contributors who collectively oversee its editorial sections.
Dale's role is expected to expand as Denver Dive continues to build out its visual content strategy across all of its editorial desks, with photography increasingly serving as a central component of the publication's storytelling approach.
