Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) and Silicon Austria Labs GmbH (SAL) have successfully completed a joint proof of concept for integrating a current sensor into a power module to be used in automotive applications such as traction inverters and DC-DC converters. This technology enables energy efficiency, as well as compact and lightweight design for ultra-high current applications using next-generation SiC power devices.

Japanese technology company Asahi Kasei has started a joint demonstration with Nobian, Furuya Metal, and Mastermelt on the recycling of metals, including precious metals, used in the cells and electrodes incorporated in electrolyzers used for the production of caustic soda. Through this initiative started in February 2025, the partners will work towards building a recycling ecosystem for valuable metals in the chlor-alkali industry.

This technological breakthrough allows for increased power output even at low-temperature, and improved durability at high temperature – both pressing issues of current LIBs. Furthermore, this technology can contribute to lower cost and smaller size of battery packs, further raising the energy density.

Asahi Kasei, a diversified Japanese multinational company, will begin the sale of Tufdene™ S-SBR (solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber) and Asadene™ BR (butadiene rubber) made using the mass-balance method1 at Asahi Kasei Synthetic Rubber Singapore Pte. Ltd. and the Synthetic Rubber Plant of Asahi Kasei's Kawasaki Works in November 2022. The sale will be based on the ISCC PLUS2 certification for S-SBR and BR acquired by Asahi Kasei's Synthetic Rubber Division in October 2022.
