The White House released a video today featuring President Donald Trump’s contribution to “The Story of America,” an educational video series Hillsdale College is producing to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The series is a partnership between the White House’s Salute to America 250 Task Force, the U.S. Department of Education, and Hillsdale College.

As part of his Make America Healthy Again tour, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited Hózhó Academy yesterday to observe how the school’s almost 800 students—most of whom are Navajo—benefit from a robust physical education program, a tried-and-true classical education curriculum, and healthy, freshly prepared school lunches.

U.S. News & World Report announced its 2025 top college rankings on Sept. 24, and Hillsdale College was named 50th among National Liberal Arts Colleges.

Associate Professor of Philosophy Ian Church has concluded a three-year project aiming to establish experimental philosophy of religion as a new, authentic area of research. The project was funded by a $2.3 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the largest research grant a Hillsdale College professor has ever received.

Hillsdale College Associate Professor of Physics Timothy Dolch and two physics alumni co-authored a study that discovered the existence of gravitational waves that oscillate slowly — some with a frequency of years or even decades. These gravitational waves, which were first hypothesized by Albert Einstein in his general theory of relativity, were observed in data acquired by the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav). As part of their research, the Hillsdale colleagues reviewed, recorded, and analyzed the NANOGrav data.

The financial health of Hillsdale College received an A+ grade on the 2023 College Financial Grades report issued by Forbes. Hillsdale was one of 71 schools to receive a perfect 4.50 financial GPA and one of 111 schools to receive an A+.

Hillsdale College announces its newest online course, “The Great Principles of Chemistry.” Dean of Natural Sciences and Associate Professor of Chemistry Matthew Young teaches the series, which was released on March 28. More than 16,000 people preregistered for the free course.

Lecturer in Journalism and General Manager of WRFH/Radio Free 101.7 FM Hillsdale Scot Bertram was nationally recognized as best faculty advisor at this year’s Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference hosted in New York City from February 23-26.

The National Wild Turkey Federation presented Hillsdale College Nimrod Education Center Director Al Stewart with a Special Recognition Award at the 50-year anniversary celebration in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Jan. 14. “I am honored to be recognized by the National Wild Turkey Federation,” said Stewart. “I am proud to work with so many outstanding individuals and organizations, such as the National Wild Turkey Federation, that are committed to hunting and angling through their spirit of sportsmanship and their respect for our natural resources.”

Hillsdale College’s Academy for Science and Freedom held a day-long event on Oct. 21 titled “Reversing the Ideological Capture of Universities” at its D.C. campus. The event was co-hosted with the Global Liberty Institute and the Salem Center for Policy at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. It featured panel discussions on potential solutions for decreasing ideological restrictions on college campuses around the country.

Hillsdale College hosted National Review contributing writer and Ethics and Public Policy Center fellow Alexandra DeSanctis as the college’s fall 2022 Eugene C. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Journalism from Sept. 19 to 29. DeSanctis is best known for her writing on abortion and her recent book, co-written with Ryan Anderson, “Tearing Us Apart: How Abortion Harms Everything and Solves Nothing.”

The admittance rate for Hillsdale College’s incoming class of 2026 is its most selective to date at 20%.

Hillsdale College opened its new Center for Military History and Grand Strategy with a two-day launch event on Sept. 9 and 10. The event, which was hosted on Hillsdale’s campus, featured talks by historians Victor Davis Hanson, Ian Johnson, and Sean McMeekin.

Hillsdale College announces its newest online teaching series, “Supply-Side Economics and American Prosperity with Art Laffer.” The free teaching series, released August 23, is taught by award-winning economist Dr. Art Laffer, who is joined by Brian Domitrovic, Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, Stephen Moore, Amity Shlaes, and Dr. Larry P. Arnn, to teach the fundamentals of macroeconomic theory.

In its annual rankings, The Princeton Review has again named Hillsdale College among one of the best in the country. This year, The Princeton Review collected data from 160,000 college students from 388 colleges across America. Hillsdale ranked in the top five of four subcategories, top 10 of four subcategories, and top 20 of five subcategories related to academics and student life.

Members of the Michigan Outdoor Writer’s Association hosted their annual conference at Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center and Camp Michindoh between June 2 and June 5. Indoor lectures were balanced with outdoor bass fishing, hiking, and clay shooting. Attendees also enjoyed catered meals, discussions, and guided tours.

Incoming Hillsdale College freshman Jordan Sapp, of Phoenix, Arizona, earned a gold medal in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, on May 18. Sapp, who has committed to the Hillsdale College shotgun team, helped the United States team win six medals.
